Hi there!
My name is Krista and I was born and raised in Prince Rupert on the unceded territory of the Ts’msyen and Sm’algyax speaking people. I am of Chinese/Swedish/Metis descent. I was raised by a single mother who worked 3 jobs and went to school to become a teacher. I experienced her constantly sacrificing herself to create a better life for her kids. She is one of my biggest inspirations in life.
My dad was born in Vietnam and escaped from there during the Vietnam War with his sister.
In high school my safe space was the drama room. I was a drama kid all through out high school, being involved with musicals and plays. I was almost always in the drama room and my drama teacher is one of my biggest inspirations for who I want to be as a teacher.
At 18 I moved to Vancouver to attend Vancouver Film School. In 2019 I moved back to Prince Rupert just before the spread of Covid-19 and started attending classes to begin my journey to become a teacher.
I began taking courses at my local college in town to complete my Associates of Arts degree, I had so many wonderful professors there, some who I still have contact with today. I “graduated” with my Associates degree with honours.
At the same time as taking those college classes is when I first started working in my school distract as an on-call EA. This was the first time where I felt assurance that I was taking the right step towards my future.
In 2021 I moved to Prince George to complete my Bachelors of Art with a major in History. I found a huge difference between my college classes and my university classes, which I think is something that attributed to my disconnect to school. The two years I went to school there was a huge struggle for me. I started to average B’s, which isn’t bad but it wasn’t me. I stopped caring about my assignments and I found it difficult to complete anything. I moved back to Prince Rupert in 2023 to work as an uncertified teacher with the idea of finishing my degree online.
Currently, I haven’t finished my BA even though I am only 3-4 courses away. I will do it eventually, however I was lucky enough to have more than enough credits to be accepted into the Bachelors of Education in Prince Rupert.
I have fallen back in love with being a student. I am enjoying all my classes and assignments. I am very lucky to have professors who care and want their students to succeed.
Now there’s my story, here’s a little bit more about me.
I have two amazing cats, who are my sons.
This is Azriel, I adopted him in 2021. He brought so much life back into my life, caring for a little creature changed so much for me.

This is Rowan, I adopted him in 2025 just before starting the BEd program.

They love each other, sometimes.

This is my mom’s dog, Willow, but she is as much my baby as she is my moms. She’s a Shiba/German Shepard mix.

Here are some fun facts about me;
- Favourite colour is pink, is that a surprise?
- I love to travel, I’ve been to England, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Mexico, Disneyland, and most recently I was in Japan; one of my favourite places on earth.
- I like to bake, I am my families baker.
- I read a lot, mostly fantasy, romance, YA.
- I play video games with my friends quite often.
